- EL1 Rate paying between $75-95ph + super

About the Role
Our client are a federal government department responsible for enhancing agricultural industries and trade, and managing the threat of biosecurity risks to Australia. They are currently seeking a Cost Recovery Specialist to come in and join their Canberra CBD team on a 12 month temp contract with possible extensions.
Candidates for this position must have:
- Baseline clearance
- Australian Citizenship
- Cost Recovery process experience and good familiarity with finance processes.
- Technological proficiency and ability to adapt to systems
Key responsibilities include:
CRIS Development & Implementation: Lead the end-to-end development of the Cost Recovery Implementation Statement (CRIS), including activity mapping, cost assumptions, and pricing schedules for non-prescribed goods.
Financial & Regulatory Advisory: Provide expert financial analysis and legal advice within administrative and regulatory frameworks to support executive decision-making and cost estimation.
Stakeholder Management: Lead engagement with industry associations and government agencies, as well as internal legal and trade teams, to align interests and secure buy-in for reforms.
Consultation & Policy Drafting: Manage the drafting and refinement of consultation materials and final CRIS documentation, incorporating stakeholder feedback to ensure regulatory compliance.
Project Governance & Reporting: Maintain oversight of project deliverables by reporting to the Agency Executive, managing project finances, and mitigating emerging risks.
Operational Enablement: Collaborate with internal corporate teams to finalize and implement charging mechanisms, ensuring a seamless transition from policy to practical cost recovery.
Team Leadership & Support: Contribute to the management and mentorship of the project team while preparing high-level briefing papers and correspondence for senior leadership.
About You
You will be an experienced Cost Recovery Specialist with proven experience and reliability in previous positions.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Baseline clearance
- Australian Citizenship
- Cost Recovery process experience and good familiarity with finance processes.
- Technological proficiency and ability to adapt to systems
